The inaugural Beyond Words Mentorship is for writers who work in Chinese, Malay and Tamil seeking to develop their manuscript for children aged 8 to 12 years. It offers writers a chance to refine their manuscript under the guidance of a published author and to gain a better understanding of the children’s book industry through sessions with industry experts.

The call for application for the Beyond Words mentorship is now open. Aspiring middle grade writers in Chinese, Malay and Tamil can apply for the three-month mentorship which commences in June 2022. Successful applicants will be paired with experienced writers who will work with them to revise and polish their draft to be publication ready. Promising original works may also be considered for publication as part of the Beyond Words project.

The mentorship includes 10 hours of face-time with the mentor either virtually via Zoom or a similar platform, or in-person if the mentor is in Singapore. Additional communications or feedback will be via email.

The mentorship is open to new or emerging writers of middle grade (readers aged 8 to 12 years) in Chinese, Malay and Tamil who are Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents.
